Class Update -- August 21, 2018

8/21/2018

The first three days of school have come and gone. They were quick, but exciting. As a class we spent time getting to know one another and made "All About Me Robots." We also began discussing Tribes expectations and made goals for the year to come. Our community has already grown to be very strong and I can't wait to see how it continues to develop.

This week we are hitting the ground running with instruction. In Writing we are setting up the workshop model and learning how to pick good topics to write about. In Reading we are discussing how to monitor and check for comprehension as we read. This will be a continuous conversation all year long. I encourage you to discuss it with your scholar at home too. If you want to be really impressed ask them what meta-cognition is. They should know by the end of the week. In Texas history we will be reviewing map skills and introducing the regions of Texas.

You can check for news about Science and Math on Mrs. Schermerhorn's class site. It's linked up above so you don't have to go searching to the ends of the earth for it.

Items of business for you to take care of include:

    • You don't have to sign them, just have a conversation with your student about what they've done
